Fun Multiplex to set up 50 malls

January 10, 2007

Business Line:
Fun Multiplex, part of the $5 billion, Essel Group, will open 50 family entertainment centres across Andhra Pradesh with an investment more than 250 crore within a period of 3 years. The target is to open world-class multiplexes in the entire AP, adding more than 200 cinema screens in the small and big cities of the State. The Group is already executing similar projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan, with a total investment of approximately Rs 1,000 crore.

With the quality of telugu movies coming down drastically and the telugu film industry producing hardly any movie worth watching, how will these multiplexes earn revenue, especially if there is very less demand for non telugu flicks in AP tier 2 cities?
